At Mullen, if there is one piece of advice we’d like to pass on to consumers in search of quality air conditioning, it’s “know your SEER ratings.” SEER stands for “seasonal energy efficiency ratio” and is an efficiency rating governed by U.S. law and regulated by the Department of Energy.
SEER defines the total cooling output of an air conditioning unit in normal usage divided by its energy input (the watt-hours required to run the unit). The math can be daunting, but the idea is that going from a SEER 9 to a 13 could reduce power consumption by up to 30% and save hundreds of dollars in energy cost.
